Patriarchal Designation of Our Church as Shrine - August 16
Please join us for the Patriarchal Designation of Our Church as a Shrine and the Blessing Ceremony of the Commemorative Anniversary Plaque. This historic occasion is one of the major highlights of the 40th Anniversary Commemoration of the Miraculous Weeping Icon of the Most Holy Virgin Mary in our beloved parish.
The day's celebration will begin with Matins at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m.
Immediately following the Divine Liturgy, the Patriarchal Designation of Our Church as a Shrine and the Blessing Ceremony of the Commemorative Anniversary Plaque will take place in front of the church.
A fellowship luncheon will follow in the church hall. We warmly invite all faithful, friends, and guests to join us as we celebrate this joyous and historic milestone together.
Back To School Blessing - August 23
Please join us on Sunday, August 23 for a special blessing and a delicious waffle luncheon as we begin the new school year. At the end of Divine Liturgy, Fr. Dean will offer a special back to school blessing for all students. This event will kick off Sunday School registration. Classes will begin on Sunday, September 13. We are excited to share our new program with all our parish families.
Annual St. Nicholas Church Picnic - August 30
We invite everyone to join us in the annual St. Nicholas church picnic which will be held on August 30th at Madison Meadows (map) in Lombard. There will be food, drinks, music, dancing, games and activities for the entire family. Bring your friends, too! Admission is free. We are also offering a sponsorship opportunity at the picnic. This is a great way, especially for business owners, to advertise their services. There will be a Sponsor's table where the sponsors can display their ad materials (business cards, flyers, etc.). There is no determined sponsorship amount. Any monetary donation is greatly appreciated and all the funds raised will go towards the renovation of the church hall.
